Can Your Diet Reduce Your Cellulite?

Cellulite is known as the dimpling or indenting of the skin. This is an irregular but extremely common skincare condition. There are many possible causes of cellulite, including excessive weight gain, genetics, and tissue structure. There are also many remedies to get rid of this skin condition. In the past, we have shared a few of these with you. Some include home remedies and popular skincare products.

One question people commonly wonder is if their diet can reduce cellulite. While some believe it does, there isn’t much scientific proof. Yet experts who believe a better diet can reduce cellulite have a few recommendations.

Diet Can Reduce Cellulite?

Dr. Oz surveyed almost 90% of dermatologists who believe that our diet plays a role in the appearance of our skin. Naturally, this includes cellulite. So, not only can food prevent cellulite, it can improve its appearance.

What do these dermatologists recommend? Here’s a list of four foods dermatologists believe can reduce the appearance of cellulite, and why.

Watermelon

Watermelon is a good food to reduce cellulite because of its high water content. It’s said that eating your water is far better than drinking it, due to the nutrients. Additionally, it makes you fuller, longer. All fruits that have an extremely high water content are known to hydrate the skin, which creates the appearance of plumpness. In turn, that temporarily reduces cellulite.

Tomatoes

You probably heard that tomato paste can help reduce cellulite, but do you know that ketchup can, too? Moreover, do you know why? These foods contain high levels of lycopene. Lycopene is a red pigment found in tomatoes, berries and other fruits. It maintains the strength of our skin and prevents the breakdown of collagen. Collagen is important because it keeps fat cells from causing cellulite to begin in the first place. It does this by creating a barrier so the fat cells don’t reach the surface of our skin. So by adding more tomato paste and ketchup into your diet, you’re making great strides in preventing the occurrence of cellulite.

Watermelon is also high in lycopene.

Blueberries

It’s time to ask what blueberries can’t do? We find them on basically every health, wellness, and beauty list in existence. Not really, but they’re prevalent. Blueberries have a high amount of vitamin C that keeps collagen healthy. It also helps to prevent the breakdown of collagen. Again, strong and healthy collagen prevents cellulite from appearing as much by creating firm, tighter skin. As if you didn’t need another reason to add blueberries into your diet, here’s another.

Brazil Nuts

Brazil nuts are highly expensive and you need an acquired taste to appreciate them. Yet, they’re wonderful foods at protecting the quality of our skin they improve elasticity. Brazilian nuts contain high traces of selenium, an essential mineral that our body uses to prevent damage caused by free radicals / oxidative stress. Essentially, it works as an antioxidant, but selenium is very much a mineral. Let’s not forget that the improvement of elasticity keeps our skin resilient from all types of skin conditions – including cellulite. Brazil nuts are yet another food to incorporate into your diet to prevent cellulite.
